Palais Niederösterreich (historically known as the Niederösterreichisches Landeshaus that means “Estates House of Lower Austria”) is an architectural jewel built in the 16thcentury located in the heart of Vienna!
The building dates back to a time when Vienna was the administrative center of Lower Austria and also where the region’s representatives would gather. During the the revolution of March 1848, the Niederösterreichisches Landeshaus played an important role as the focal point of the revolutionary forces. The uprising was subsequently crushed by the military.
In 1918 it was the seat of the parliament of the new Republic of German Austria.
After the legislature and the ministries moved out of the building in 1997, the building underwent substantial renovations and restoration work, and is now used for exhibitions and for private functions and events. It was renamed the Palais Niederösterreich in 2004.
Prominently located on the middle of the Herrengasse (meaning in German language: "Street of the Lords" or "Lords Lane") and nearby to the famous "Café Central" where city life and history collide.
The venue “Palais Niederösterreich” combines tradition and history in perfect harmony with all the requirements of the most up-to-date equipment. Magnificent halls, completely restored with the most modern technical equipment.
