OVERVIEW - Schloss Schönbrunn as Conference host

During the reign of Maria Theresa, as an imperial summer residence, Schönbrunn Palace became the glittering focus of court life. From this time on, it played host to the leading statesmen of Europe.

The palace is magnificent, the furniture befitting of a queen and in the best of taste. The gardens have everything that art has ever created.

(Johann Edler von Kurzböck, 1779)

At the 20th session of the World Heritage Committee (1996), Schönbrunn Palace was put on the list of UNESCO World Cultural Heritage Sites - announcing the palace and its gardens as a unique Baroque ensemble.

Contribution of heritage to a sustainable human development is major.
The protection of exceptional heritage properties cherished by people all over the world, can be considered as an intrinsic contribution to human wellbeing, for present and future generations.
Furthermore, World Heritage – and heritage in general – can make also an important instrumental contribution to sustainable development across its various dimensions.

The conference center of Schönbrunn Palace combines tradition and history in perfect harmony with all the requirements of the most up-to-date equipment. Magnificent halls, completely restored with the most modern technical equipment.

Join SGEM Vienna GREEN 2026 and enjoy the science surrounded by history and unforgettable memories!
